Description

Black peas are the less-known but tastier cousin of green peas. Known in Hindi as Kala Vatana and in Kannada as Kappu Vatani, this variety of peas is cultivated by Subhiksha farmers with the intention of preserving this variety. This variety is currently cultivated only in Belagavi district in Karnataka.

Dried Black peas are totally different and tastier from the popular green peas.They are quite smaller in size as compared to dried yellow and green peas. Dried black peas, are hard so takes quite a longer time to cook then the dried green or yellow peas but after it gets cooked properly the taste and texture is better than that of green peas.
